My American Secret Santa gift

This is a gift that I got from my great friend Kenny Conklin at Hobbylink International, in an exchange we did as I missed the group build.

It was a bit mysterious as the parcel came from Ukraine, and by the looks of it the kit is from Ukraine as well. Will be both interesting and challening to build as I usually don’t build biplanes, due to the rigging! 🙂

Kiev painting update

After masking the deck I could paint some light gull grey on the upper part of the hull.

I didn’t have the “correct” colour for the airplanes, but I picked one I thought was close.

As can be seen, I’ve painted white for the waterline. Then it was masked and a small area was painted IJN light grey.

Then that area was masked and dark ghost grey was painted. I forgot to take a pic so after that I masked again and painted the bottom black.

Then it all was unmasked.

I just had to try the buildings on.

Then again I hade to mask and paint, as I had forgot to paint all areas green.

I need to do some touching up and also some detail painting before I can start the final assembly. The planes and helicopters also need to be done.

Secret Santa gift arrived!

Actually I’m participating in two so called Secret Santa group builds. Meaning you exchange gifts with one of the other members in the group. This one is from a Swedish forum.

I can hardly wait to see what’s in it! The fun thing is that it must have been delivered personally to my mailbox, as there are no stamps or anything such!
I’m so looking forward to this! 🙂

Kiev carrier update

With the Scooter done, I could continue with this build!
Masking the helicopter pads wasn’t easy.

Then all tape was removed.

I did some touching up and painted the numbers by hand.

I need to do some minor touching up, then it’s time for masking again so I can paint the hull and some details on deck.

It was a fun build that took a little while to build! Now it sits in my cabinet! 🙂

Finishing assembly on the Scooter.

With the decals in place and a clear cote for protection, I could start assemble landing gears.

As can be seen I repainted the air brakes in red.

After a while all parts was assembled and it could stand on its own legs.

I used oil colours and white spirit to do a wash.

The wash was then wiped off with cotton buds and a little more was added for streaks and general gream. The result will be posted in the finished pics, shortly.

Sabaton – the great show -limited edition box

Today I collected a parcel I’ve been waiting for a while! It looked like this!

The side and the brand might be a clue to the content, but I will reveal what was inside.

Cobi is a Lego look alike brand and I think the parts fits with each other. This one contains a limited edition of Sabaton’s stage with tank, plane/synth and figures and all!
It also contains a catalouge, a poster and a few stickers. The box also contains 2 DVDs with music and material from their show.

I must say I’m very excited!!! Looking forward to listening and watching the videos and of course building the stage! 🙂 A post with that build will come later!

Scooter decals added.

Yesterday I had a decal session and now the plane have all the decals.

Now only the tanks needs their decals. Will try to do that today.
