Blood Bowl Second Season Edition – Games Workshop

Blood Bowl is a fantasy game based on American football, but with a lot more violence, and the players seems to be from the Warhammer or W40k universe. With the game there’s a pitch, dug outs, dices, cheat sheets, rule book and two teams, one orc and one human (basically). You have to assemble and preferably paint the teams and the two referees, and the balls and markers.

I started building the star players, the large players and the referees.

The parts are easy to clean up and once you figured how some parts are supposed to sit it fits perfectly. Barely no visible seams at all. The plastic feels a bit soft, so a bit carefullness is required when removing excess plastic.

According to the instructions, the face should be glued to the body first, and then the helmet slipped over somehow. For me that didn’t work at all, so I had to open up the helmet a bit. That resulted in the bands to the bow breaking off. Once the head was inserted into the helmet it became much easier to get things in place.

After gluing the bow, I could use that as a support for the bands hanging down. The eagle also was a bit tricky to figure out how it was placed on the arm or gauntlet. There was a notch in the medal hanging down which seems to fit on a tab on the back of the glove.

While waiting for the glue to set, I started with the referees, who was quite easy to assemble.

Next up was the trained troll. One of the large players for the Black Orc.

The large player for the human team is an ogre, which was fairly easy to assemble. The troll and Varag had more parts.

Here are all the figures I’ve done so far!

The only thing I haven’t done so far is putting them on their stands. I need to figure how I want to do with them, covering up the slots and perhaps getting new ones without slots and smaller ones for the goblins and referees. Later I’ll also add grass and stuff.

On to the rest of the teams next before I start to paint them. I might even play a bit just to try out the game before I start painting.

I also got two extra teams that I can build.
